About Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity

What we do

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity is a registered charity which supports the excellent work of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We do this by providing funding for state-of-the-art equipment, new facilities and all the added extras that make people's experience at our hospitals and in our community services the best it can be.

We also provide funding for specialist training for Trust staff, which enhances their skills and helps them to provide even better care to their patients. We also provide grants which help to support and improve staff wellbeing.

We couldn't do any of this without the ongoing support, hard work and generosity of our local communities who donate to, and fundraise for, the charity.

We are members of the Fundraising Regulator and have signed up to the Fundraising Promise

We are also members of NHS Charities Together

We have created a new strategy to help guide the charity over the next three years. To read the strategy click here.

In November 2022 we were announced recipients of a Special Recognition Award in the category of Contribution to the Community at South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Just some of the ways your support makes a difference

Children's Waiting Room at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich

£80,000 was granted to create a dedicated waiting room at Victoria Infirmary especially for our younger patients. The room is kitted out with an interactive floor projector, gaming station and sensory toys.

LUCAS Resuscitation

Two grants of £14,000 were provided for LUCAS Resuscitation machines which provide which significantly improves outcomes for cardiac arrest patients. One is based in Emergency Department and one is for the hospital wide Resus Team to use.

Complementary Therapy for End of Life Care

We have provided £20,000 to fund a project to provide therapies such as Reiki and HEARTS - a form of therapeutic touch for people who are nearing the end of life and want to die at home. The therapy can help relieve pain and symptoms, relieve anxiety and low mood, promote calmness and assist with sleep problems.

We provided over £800,000 through grants to help improve patient care and experience during 2023/24

These are just some of the ways in which we spend donations. Other projects include smaller but important things like memory making items for grieving loved ones, large scale projects like our Meadow Suite which is a dedicated facility for women and their families who are experiencing baby loss, and wellbeing support for patients, loved ones and staff through our Arts Programme.

Supporting the NHS trust

We fund items which are 'over and above' basic NHS provision. This means we can add value to the care and experience of patients and their loved ones by enhancing the environment, funding state-of-the-art equipment and by providing all the added extras which make a difference every day.

Training staff & enhancing skills

We also fund specialised training for our staff, which enhances their skills and helps them to provide even better care to their patients. We couldn’t do any of this without the ongoing support, hard work and generosity of our local communities who donate to, and fundraise for, the charity.

We need your help & support

You can support any area of our hospitals (Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, or Elmshurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford) or our community based services by making a donation, fundraising for the charity, or by leaving a gift in your Will.

Your support makes a real difference

Every year we spend thousands of pounds helping to make our services the best they can be for patients and staff. The charity exists to enhance and improve the care and experience of patients, so everything we pay for is ‘over and above’ what the NHS provides as standard.
