Research shows that live music can have a profound impact on health and wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and support recovery. Our Music in Residence programme was created to bring joy to patients and enhance their healing journey.
In partnership with Live Music Now, three wards at Leighton Hospital—the children’s ward, a stroke ward, and the cancer centre—received regular visits from professional musicians.
As part of the programme, ward staff were supported in using music-based activities to engage patients. Over 12 weeks, they developed new skills and were awarded a Badge of Excellence in the Use of Music in Care and Health.
