Charity Pop-Up Shop supports Christmas campaign

The charity has launched a new pop-up shop to sell merchandise and raffle tickets to patients, visitors and staff.

The shop, which is based in the main reception of Leighton Hospital is fully staffed by volunteers who already carry out roles at the hospital or who are members of the business community who want to give something back during the festive season.

One of the most special volunteers is Munro, the therapy dog who brings along his owner, Jacqui twice a week to work in the shop. He has proved a huge hit with everyone he meets and has his own fundraising side-line offering photos and pats for a small donation!

Emma Robertson, Head of MCH Charity said, 'We usually sell these items from our office and from the hospital shop, but opening our very own shop has been amazing and we've seen a huge increase in the amount of money we raise from our pin badges and soft toys.

Our Volunteer Manager Jo has been brilliant helping us to recruit volunteers and co-ordinating the rota and the volunteers have loved having a new role to do, even coming up with their own ideas to improve the service as we go.

I want to extend a huge thank you to Jo and to all the volunteers who have got involved, we really weren't sure how successful it was going to be at first, but it's proved to be a huge hit!'
