A Gentle, Comforting Space for Bereaved Families
Experiencing the loss of a baby is an unimaginable heartbreak. In these deeply painful moments, having a private, comforting space to spend precious time with a baby before saying goodbye can make a small difference.
The Baby Bereavement Suite ‘Meadow Suite’ at Leighton Hospital was co-designed with parents who have experienced baby loss, ensuring that every detail reflects their needs, emotions, and hopes for others facing similar grief. Working alongside a professional artist, we created a space that is both soothing and deeply meaningful.
A nature-inspired theme was chosen, symbolising gentleness, continuity, and the quiet beauty of shifting light and shadow. The delicate interplay of dancing shadows across the room brings a sense of peace, reflecting the ever-changing yet eternal presence of nature.
To enhance this atmosphere, the suite features bespoke wallpaper, window vinyls, and framed artworks, each thoughtfully designed to create a space of warmth and reflection. The soft patterns and natural shapes add to the feeling of calm, helping families find moments of comfort as they spend time with their baby.
