Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity is proud to announce the successful purchase and installation of a cutting-edge medical imaging machine—known as the ‘C-Arm’—at Leighton Hospital, part of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.Â
This state-of-the-art piece of equipment will be used across both Urology and Cardiology departments, and is set to transform patient care across the region. Thanks to the generosity of supporters and donors to the Charity, patients in Cheshire will now benefit from more advanced diagnostics and treatments—without needing to travel to Manchester, Liverpool or Stoke for specialist scans.Â
Named for its distinctive ‘C’ shape, which allows the x-ray unit to wrap around the patient’s body, the C-Arm enables clinicians to capture highly detailed images with greater speed and precision. This not only improves diagnostic capabilities but also enhances the quality and efficiency of a wide range of minimally invasive procedures.Â
Crucially, having this technology available locally at Leighton Hospital will improve the experience for patients who might otherwise have to travel long distances for essential care—something that can be particularly difficult when experiencing symptoms linked to urology or cardiology. For many, the stress and discomfort of travel while unwell is a major concern, and the new C-Arm helps alleviate that burden by bringing advanced care closer to home.Â
"We’re absolutely thrilled to see the C-Arm in place and already making a difference to patient care," said Emma Robertson, Head of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity. "This investment ensures more people can receive world-class care without the added stress of travelling far from home."Â
The installation of the C-Arm is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity to support innovation and excellence in NHS care in Cheshire. It marks a step forward in providing faster diagnoses, reducing patient travel time, and elevating the overall hospital experience for patients and their families.Â
Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this vital project.Â
