Our second festive fun run proved to be a huge success!
On a freezing, but bright and beautiful winter’s morning a crowd of runners and walkers descended on Queen’s Park, Crewe to show their support for MCH Charity’s Lost Little Ones baby bereavement appeal.
Over 160 men, women, children and dogs gathered dressed in their best festive outfits to run or walk the one mile route around the beautiful park. After an early scare when Parkrun was cancelled due to the frost, the sun (supported by a good scattering of rock salt!) did it’s job and melted the paths just in time for the 11am start.
After getting into the festive spirit listening to festive tunes provided by The Cat radio and a rousing warm-up from regular MCH Charity supporter Andy, the run was launched by Crewe Town Mayor Benn Minshall and group set off around the route supported by marshals provided by Crewe and Nantwich Lions.
Just a few minutes went by before our adult and child winners crossed the line, quickly followed by the others who all received a lovely medal, drink and mince pie. Many then went on to enjoy the festive activities provided by Friends of the Park in the cafe.
We are delighted with the support we received from everyone who joined us on the day and have received some lovely feedback from many who took part.
Of course none of this would have been possible without our fantastic sponsors, Crewe based company Alpha Omega Securities. As well as funding the event they provided a great deal of practical support, both in the run-up to the event and on the day itself. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Ken and his whole team for everything they did to make the event such a great success!
