Midwife skydives to support appeal

Midwife Michelle McKay stepped up and jumped out of a plane to help raise funds for our new Lost Little Ones baby bereavement suite appeal.

Michelle, who had never done a jump before challenged herself to the skydive when she heard about the appeal.

Michelle said, ‘I have had personal experience of loss and how it affects the parents and their whole family. Anything that can be done to improve the care will make a big difference to each family.

I have chose to do a skydive as its completely out of my comfort zone. I also chose to do it quickly so that I didn’t have chance to think about it too much!’

After completing the jump Michelle said, ‘I was nervous as the plane took off but as we were about to jump I looked out of the window of the plane and saw a rainbow.

Babies that are born after a baby has died are called rainbow babies. It made me feel closer to all those babies that are taken too soon and meant my nerves went away.’

Michelle raised a wonderful £600 for the appeal which we think is fabulous –  thank you so much!
