The Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU) at Leighton Hospital received a ‘wheelie’ exciting donation this week!
The Phat Lads Charitable Foundation dropped off three generously donated electric ride-on toy cars to the unit. The cars are dual controlled – so that patients in the CAU will be able to drive their very own little cars around the hospital, while parents, and colleagues on the unit, can override the child’s controls with a remote control for added safety.
It’s hoped that the use of these cars will help to reduce the anxiety of children on the unit, as they move around the hospital for scans, treatments or procedures. Rather than being pushed to other areas of the hospital in wheelchairs or beds, when patients are able, they will instead get the exciting opportunity to drive there in their own car – the cars can then be easily returned to the unit by our colleagues, thanks to their remote controls!
A huge thank you to Phat Lads for their support, these fantastic cars will make a real difference to the experiences of the children who visit us on CAU. You can support Phat Lads’ charitable endeavours by entering their competitions – and be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes too!
