Baby Leo’s family take on challenge to thank team who cared for him

This week we were thrilled to welcome Andy (Daddy), Jason (Uncle Jaybo) and Jess (big Sister) to Leighton Hospital so that we could celebrate their fantastic fundraising achievement. During September and October the family took on a Duathlon (Jess) and the Chester Marathon (Andy and Jason) to raise funds for our Neonatal Unit.
The family wanted to say thank you for the care given by the team on the unit to baby Leo, who was born very poorly at 28 weeks and spent 12 weeks on there getting better and stronger.

Andy said, 'The team were incredible, Leo is now 18 months old and is a strong, happy little boy. As a family, we wanted to give something back to the ward which means a great deal to us.'
During the visit the family were reunited with NICU nurse Meg who cared for Leo during his stay and remembers him well. She couldn't believe how big he has got and was delighted to see him running around giving out high fives and fist bumps!
The family initially hoped to raise £500 but totally smashed their target eventually raising an amazing £2,262
Jess was also presented one of our Young Fundraisers awards for her fantastic achievement, well done Jess you are a fundraising superstar!
