MCH Charity funds specialist lifting chair

We’re delighted to have funded a specialist lifting chair for Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Endoscopy department.

Staff demonstrating how to use the chair.

Josie Clewes, Endoscopy Moving and Handling Trainer, heard about Raizer chairs from a colleague who used one at home to care for a relative who is prone to falling.

Josie submitted a charitable funds application for a Raizer chair – believing that it would be a great benefit to patients and visitors who use the Endoscopy service.

Staff from Endoscopy and Leighton Hospital’s Treatment Centre have now been trained to use the chair.

The Raizer Chair is designed for use in hospitals and care homes, or for rescue services and paramedic duties. In the event of a patient falling, the emergency lifting chair can be used to manually raise them in as little as 1 minute, without carers having to strain themselves unnecessarily.

The Raizer chair is constructed around a patient who has fallen.

The chair will now be available for use where needed by the Endoscopy Unit, Treatment Centre, and discharge areas at Leighton Hospital. Staff from Endoscopy and the Treatment Centre recently took part in a training day around using the chair – with some even volunteering to be lifted with the chair!

Our supporters allow us to fund small extras like the Raizer chair – which can make a big difference to the experience of patients and visitors to our sites. If you would like to make a donation to help us fund more equipment like the Raizer chair, you can do so here.
